TECHNOLOGY OPTIONS
We offer advanced technology as integrated or value-added options to our products.
The Multiray LED SeaLite combines two LED sources each with its own color and beam pattern that can operate independently or in tandem.
Our SeaSense serial protocol enables flexible, real-time access to advanced onboard monitoring, diagnostic, and control technologies over standard EIA-485 and EIA-232 industrial serial interfaces.
FleXlink technology is an exclusive alternative to the high-cost and delicate coaxial and fiber optic interconnects. Available for the HD Multi SeaCam and HD Zoom SeaCam.
Multiray™ LED SeaLite®
KEY FEATURES
Multiray LED SeaLite luminaires (LSL-2025) combine the functions of two fixtures in a single light. The LSL-2025 enables operators to expand vehicle capability while saving space, avoiding downtime for switching luminaires, and lowering costs compared to the multiple luminaires it replaces. Multiray expands control for optimal imaging when operators must adjust settings in changing subsea environments.
Multiray technology configures an LED SeaLite with two sets of LED sources that operate independently or in tandem. LED source options include whites, blues, greens, reds, and other colors along with ultraviolet non-visible emitters. Each set of LEDs is configurable with a selection of optics to produce beam patterns that range from a 115° wide flood to a 28° narrow spot.
Each set of LED sources is controlled by a power supply channel. Up to three operating modes are available: channel 1, channel 2, or channels 1 and 2 combined. The combined operating mode is available for sets of white LEDs or sets with matching forward voltage characteristics. The Multiray power supply adapts dynamically when switching active channels for different forward voltage or forward current characteristics. The power supply maintains full dimming and light controls for each set of LEDs when switching between operating modes.
The Multiray LED SeaLite has two control options: power cycling and SeaSense™ serial control. SeaSense provides the most flexibility for controlling Multiray power supply channels, allowing Multiray LED lights to:
- Select an operating mode directly or cycle through enabled modes.
- Assign Multiray operating modes and dimming levels to any of the sixteen user presets.
- Set the default active mode and intensity at power up.
- Change the max power limit on an operating mode and dimming level.

SeaSense™ Protocol
KEY FEATURES
The SeaSense serial protocol provides flexible, real-time access to advanced onboard monitoring, diagnostics, and operator controls over standard EIA-485 and EIA-232 industrial serial interfaces.
A common base command set across all SeaSense-enabled products keeps basic setup and operation consistent and simple. SeaSense uses human readable commands with simple formatting rules and an optional checksum field. Built-in real-time validation and error tolerant operation make testing and troubleshooting straightforward. SeaSense-enabled devices can operate in multi-protocol installations where the SeaSense protocol extends the functionality of legacy protocols such as Sony VISCA1.
The unprecedented level of control with the SeaSense protocol allows operators to customize the behavior and operation of DeepSea products beyond any other products on the market. In the LED SeaLite, users can control basic functions like light output and also have commands to customize dimming curves, set and recall preset settings, change the power-on light output level, and limit the maximum output to match the available power budget.
The SeaSense protocol can address connected devices individually, in groups, or as a broadcast. Layers of instructions can be built on top of one another, as each device can belong to more than one group. Group and broadcast commands work on multidrop networks or by using port-mirroring software to easily combine physical ports into a single virtual serial port.
In addition to the wide range of control features, the SeaSense protocol unlocks internal diagnostic and operation statistics. SeaSense-enabled products can total operating time, track power cycles, report internal temperature and humidity along with lifetime extremes, in addition to a variety of other internal diagnostic checks.

FleXlink®
KEY FEATURES
Our exclusive FleXlink technology is a cost-effective and robust alternative to coaxial and fiber optic interconnects in subsea HD and 4K/UHD video transmission. FleXlink uses reliable unshielded twisted pair (UTP) conductors and readily available Ethernet-type interconnectors to reduce infrastructure cost and solve common problems with subsea HD/4K camera integration.
The core of the FleXlink technology is a proprietary cable driver that adapts the SDI signal for a UTP high-speed signal path. A suitable camera configured with a FleXlink driver transmits HD-SDI or 3G-SDI video through up to 10 m of subsea cable. Up to two of the pairs can be combined for a Dual Link 3G-SDI configuration capable of supporting full 4K resolutions. A media converter recovers the SDI signal in its original format without needing decompression or adding latency, and outputs a standard SDI coax or fiber optic signal. The end-to-end FleXlink system meets the rigorous SMPTE 292M and SMPTE 424M HD broadcast video standards and the proposed SMPTE ST 425-3 4K Dual Link specification.
The FleXlink Media Converter Board (MCB) uses widely available Small Form-factor Pluggable (SFP) video output modules with either coax or fiber optic outputs. Changing between CWDM laser wavelengths on an MCB is as simple as swapping out the SFP module. We can even offer the MCB as an OEM component for integration in existing housings or in our 6km rated FleXlink housing.
FleXlink makes integrating HD or 4K imaging capability easy and cost effective. Versatile UTP cables facilitate deployment of HD imaging systems where cyclic flexing or tight bends make both fiber and coax inadvisable. Operators can further reduce total system cost by leveraging the same spare Ethernet component inventories maintained for sonar and other high-speed digital systems.
